Trinity School of Medicine in conjunction with the International Hospital for Children, Mustique Medical Trust and Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, announces the appointment of Dr. Ty-Asha Plummer to the position of Mustique Professorship/Paediatric Surgery practicing at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital as well as to the Clinical Faculty of Trinity School of Medicine.
(PRWEB) November 12, 2009 -- Trinity School of Medicine in conjunction with the International Hospital for Children, Mustique Medical Trust and Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, announces the appointment of Dr. Ty-Asha Plummer to the position of Mustique Professorship/Pediatric Surgery practicing at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital as well as to the Clinical Faculty of Trinity School of Medicine. Dr. Plummer’s position is made possible in part by a generous grant from the Mustique Medical Trust.
As part of the clinical faculty of Trinity School of Medicine, Dr. Plummer will teach the basics of general pediatric surgical pathophysiology at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, the teaching hospital affiliated with Trinity School of Medicine. Dr. Plummer will work side by side with Trinity medical students assigning clinical cases for the purpose of interviewing and physical diagnosis as part of their Introduction to Clinical Medicine.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Plummer will provide consultative services to the neonatal ICU, pediatric wards, and the emergency/casualty department as well as general surgical services for pediatric patients from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and surrounding countries, all in accordance with the mission of the International Hospital for Children and the Eastern Caribbean Initiative.
Dr. Plummer received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the West Indies. Her most recent position has been as the Chief Resident in Pediatric Surgery, Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston, Jamaica. Previously Dr. Plummer held the position of Chief Resident of Pediatric Surgery, Department of Surgery, Radiology, Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
