Bay St (Toward Center)

As you walk along Bay Street to the west you find more businesses servicing people rather than other businesses. The only American franchise fast food stores are two Kentucky Fried Chicken places--one here and one on Back Street. That's because fried chicken is a staple of Caribbean cooking, while there is a lot less beef eaten. Or raised, for that matter.

Greaves is a supermarket that does a lot of business serving the Grenadines by ferry as well as the local walk-in trade. They have another store and a bakery near the airport.

Heritage Square is an open area just west of North River.

One of the buildings that preserves the feeling of colonial architecture is the Cobblestone Hotel.

Sprott Brothers is a small department store (but the biggest in Kingstown!)

The next part of Bay Street is the civic center.
